The Leader
Lynne McCabe
Lynne started playing the violin at the age of 6, after asking to start playing for 3 years (copying her older sisters). She was awarded a scholarship to the Purcell School at the age of 11 and then went on to study at the Royal College of Music, where she achieved a B.Mus (Hons) and a post-graduate diploma in Performance studies.
Lynne returned to Bristol and worked in care for a few years, while continuing to be active on the music scene in Bristol and the surrounding areas. She returned to studies to do a Post graduate diploma in music therapy – a field in which she worked for several years. However, she was persuaded to start teaching, something that she vowed never to do – but discovered that she loved it.
For the last 15 years, Lynne has been a violin teacher in the local area, working both privately and for Bristol Beacon, the local music hub. She has remained an active performer within the local area and has performed with numerous groups, both chamber and orchestral. She currently plays in Brandon Hill Chamber Orchestra, but has also performed in the past with Opera Project, Bristol Opera, New Bristol Sinfonia and Bath Philarmonia, as well as many choral societies.
