You-Chiung Lin - Piano
After starting to play the piano at the age of five, You-Chiung Lin studied with Juanelva Rose at Tunghai University in her native country Taiwan, with Piers Lane at the Royal Academy of Music in London on a full scholarship, and with Douglas Finch at the London College of Music & Media. She has appeared in master classes with Imogen Cooper, John Lill, Artur Pizarro and Martino Tirimo, amongst others.
You-Chiung Lin won several awards including the First Prize at the National Music Competition in Taiwan, the Croydon Symphony Orchestra Soloist Award and the First Concerto Prize at the Kent International Summer Course for Advanced Pianists. During her studies at the London College of Music & Media, she won the Holmes Recital Prize and the Beethoven Prize. As a result of the latter, she went on to win the Second Prize at the prestigious Beethoven Intercollegiate Piano Competition, hosted by the Beethoven Piano Society of Europe. You-Chiung held the Keyboard/Accompanist Fellowship at the LCMM for a few years and appeared frequently in their concert series.
As a concerto enthusiast, You-Chiung has performed successfully with a number of orchestras including the Bristol Concert Orchestra, the Corinthian Chamber Orchestra, the Reading Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestra of St John's Smith Square. She also receives regular returning invitations for further performances. Her recordings include solo works by Chopin, Liszt, Mozart and Rachmaninoff, an album of rare Romantic pieces for flute and piano with Tiong-Eng Goh, The Carnival of the Animals by Saint-Saëns with the Reading Symphony Orchestra, and a live performance of Rachmaninoff's Second Piano Concerto with the Bristol Concert Orchestra.
